Ironically, I did read this book at the beach (not on purpose), but hey, it was to set the tone a bit.
I stumbled upon Beach Read (and Emily Henry) through a book challenge of people re-reading her books during the time of the release of Great Big Beautiful Life and this was the third book that I had read in her collection I believe. However for some reason, I think I liked Book Lovers the most (book review coming soon for that one), mainly because of the character energy that was in there.
Beach Read has two people January Andrews and Augustus (sound familiar?) Everett or Gus as we know him, as the protagonists who switch novel genres to write new books on their writing slumps. The book was pretty medium paced for me, but I think I really did like the closure that January got towards the ending pages of the book.
Was I able to understand the “ending” ending – aka the last chapter? Frankly not – which is why I did say that Book Lovers might be my better favorite amongst the Emily Henry books. However, I wouldn’t say that its totally bad, but it might be a book that I’d put down if I had to read it for a second time.
My rating:

For some reason, even after finishing it, I didn’t feel like it was “finished”, like the book didn’t hit as much as I thought it would.
