Monograms and Mandala Art

Mandala – A geometric configuration of symbols which represent the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a time-microcosm of the universe, but it originally meant to represent wholeness and a model for the organizational structure of life itself.

Monogram – a motif of interwoven letters, typically a person’s initials, used to identify a personal possession or as a logo.

And putting them together, I sketched out a Mandala monogram:

The patterns were actually pretty relaxing to draw, it was hard for the first few minutes, where it became a bit more intricate, but as I kept going, it felt like I was in a trance and I continued it and didn’t want to stop.

Usually drawing patterns like these help a bit more in slowing time and and your mind becomes a bit more relaxed when you continue to draw the portions that mimic themselves. But by drawing a mandala monogram, it makes it more personalized and you can even use it as a logo or something special.

I’d highly encourage you to draw this in your own style and make your own monograms. They’d look pretty chic and special too. Who knows, maybe you’ll be setting a new trend with your “mandala monogram”!
